Description: Tarunmitra is an active group in our school which focuses on environmental concern and preservation of nature. It creates awareness among students by engaging them in different activities and competitions. Tarumitra means ‘friends of trees’. The club strives to create sensitivity among the growing students and the young minds to think of ways to reduce the carbon footprint on earth.
‘Painting the pot’ competition was conducted for the members of Tarumitra on 4 th May, 2024 under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Punam Gupta. The event saw enthusiastic participation from thirty-four participants from classes VIII to XII, showcasing their creativity and artistic skills The motive behind it was that a clay pot should reach every house so that we come close to our mother earth. The participants displayed the wide range of creative expressions, incorporating various themes and styles in their pots through colours. Many paintings reflected themes related to environment conservation, showcasing the mission of Tarumitra--- to promote sustainability and eco- consciousness. Through the paintings they spread the message that pots can help conserve water and we can quench our thirst by cold and tasty
water from the clay pots and enjoy our summer. Participants showcased a wide range of artistic styles and techniques demonstrating their creativity and imagination in painting the pots. Some used leaves, ladyfinger, some showcased the art of Madhubani painting, Mandala art etc.
The event brought together the enthusiasts, passionate about conservation of
environment—fostering collaboration and dialogue on pressing environmental issues. A panel of experienced artists and environmentalist evaluated the entries based on creativity, originality and adherence to the theme and overall artistic merit.
In conclusion, I would like to include that by combining art with environment conservation the event not only showcased the power of creativity in addressing environmental challenges but also inspired individuals to take actions toward a more sustainable future.
