Description: ST. Xavier’s School, Patna conducted; Fr. Murphy Memorial Inter School Swimming Competition, 2018 on 7th of September. All together eight schools participated they were – D.P.S, S.T Michaels, Mt. Carmel, Loyola High School, Litera Valley, Notre Dame Academy, Don Bosco and St. Xavier’s High School.
The competition started 9:00 A.M sharp in the morning, with the welcoming the chief guest (Mr. Jyoti Navas Kumar Sinha) who was distinguished guest of that day. He completed his studies from St. Xavier’s, Patna and he was the Bihar cadre I.P.S officer of 1967 batch. The judges of the event were Avinash Kumar, Manish Kumar, Ashok Kumar and Ritesh Kumar they are all members of Bihar swimming association and nationalist swimmers. Fr. Rector and Fr. Principal graced that event by garlanding the portrait of Fr. Murphy (who was the principal of St. Xavier’s and in his administration the school grew both in size and reputation). After that a melodious and rhythmic welcome song was presented by our school choir and there after Fr. Principal said a few words to motivate the students and he welcomed the Chief Guest (J.K. Sinha) by giving a bouquet, followed to it Rev. FR. Rector present a memento to J.K. Sinha as a token of gratitude. With that the Chief Guest blessed all of us with his words of wisdom and declared the competition open.
There were so many events such as free style, Breast stroke, Back stroke and finally relay. The girls and the boys participated in every event with full energy, compassion, joy and mirth. That day the weather was also favourable. The atmosphere was filled with joy and cheer. After every event the winners were motivated and praised by getting medals and finally in relay all the participants put their heart and soul to get the ‘Champions Trophy’. With that D.P.S became the overall champion, St. Xavier’s as first runner up among the boys. These participants got a trophy and after that the judges of the event were honoured by Rev. Fr. Rector.
It was really a vibrant and well co-ordinated programme by Y. Dubey Sir. Under the guidance of Fr. Principal, Fr. Vice-Principal, Mrs. Sucheta Roy Mam, Mrs. Jyoti Mehra Mam and Saroj Mam, Dubey Sir, Akhilesh Sir. The masters of the ceremony were Sweety of 10 A, Shatakshi of 10 C.
The programme ended with Fr. Vice Principal’s vote of thanks and national anthem. Xaveria’ns got one more chance to show their spark to all in the form of this swimming competition.
